In a major attempt to benefit most of people under Pension Scheme, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy announced that 7 lakh more beneficiaries would be added under the YSR Pension scheme from January 2020. The state also promised to make the women self-help groups (Podupu Sangams) debt-free. Furthermore, he stated that the loans of the Podupu Sangams would be waived off.

Giving a brief detail, Minister Aruna Chaudhary said, “Till 31st July 2018 a total of 1,06,709 eligible beneficiaries have availed the benefit under the scheme and an amount of Rs. 27.10 crore has been credited directly into their bank accounts through online mode."
