Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday (Sept 1) said with public participation, "Rashtriya Poshan Maah" can be made a people's movement and launched the initiative. Following the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make the country free from malnutrition, the Govt of Assam has been implementing a number of programmes to eradicate malnutrition and Anaemia in the state.

Since 1991, India's 50% of the increase in GDP, more than one-third of the world's malnourished children live in India. To tackle the malnourishment, the Health Ministry has set the six Global Nutrition Targets (GNTs) to be achieved by 2025 and also made the strategies to improve Nutrition status on Monday.
