Cairo, November 26: In one of the deadliest terror attack of recent time, the death toll of Egypt’s North Sinai mosque attack rose on Saturday to 305 including 27 children. Leaders across the world condemned the Friday attack on a packed mosque in Egypt’s Sinai region. As per a statement from Egypt’ top prosecutor attackers were carrying Islamic state flag.

On Friday peaceful Sufi worshippers gathered for weekly Friday prayers in Rawda mosque. At first, a bomb ripped through the mosque as Friday prayers were finishing. The attackers who were in a group of 25-30 started open firing from 12 windows of the mosque.

As local media reported, the attackers were carrying black flags that read “There is no god but God. Muhammad is the messenger of God”. They covered their faces with masks while wore military-style uniforms.

In a retaliatory action, Egypt’s military launched airstrikes on targets in mountainous areas around Bir al-Abed. Vehicles used in the attack and “terrorist” locations where weapons and ammunition were stocked, were the target of an airstrike.

On Friday, the military said it had "chased down terrorist elements, discovered and destroyed a number of vehicles that carried out the terrorist attack, and killed those inside them in the vicinity of the attack in addition to targeting a number of terrorist outposts containing weapons and ammunition."
