CRPF jawan martyred in encounter with Maoists in Bastar

Raipur, November 7: Fighting with Maoists, a CRPF Jawan was martyred this morning in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar region. The exchange of fire took place around 4 am at Pamed area when a joint team of CRPF and state police was on a search operation.


 

The jawan belonged to the 151st battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force. Police officials claimed that some Maoists could also have been killed in this encounter.

 

In a tweet, CRPF said, “Constable Kamta Prasad of #151Bn sacrificed his life-fighting Maoists in forests of Pamed, Bijapur, Chhattisgarh. We salute the braveheart for the supreme sacrifice made in service of the nation.”

Last month, two Maoists were killed in an exchange of fire with a joint team of security forces last night in the Bastar division. According to the Superintendent of police of Dantewada district Abhishek Pallav, a joint team of District Reserve Guard and police was on a search operation in the Kirandul area.

An encounter took place between Security forces and Maoists in the jungles of Kutrem. After the gun battle, the bodies of two Maoists were recovered from the spot. Killed Maoists had the reward of one lakh rupees each on their heads. Police also recovered a 12 bore rifle and a pistol from the encounter site.
