“Untouchability is a distortion. It must go lock, stock and barrel.” Balasaheb Deoras Ji further added quoting Abraham Lincoln, “ Lincoln had said, ‘If slavery is not wrong, nothing is wrong. We should also say, ‘ If untouchability is not wrong, nothing is wrong.”
Virag Pachpore is the author of रा स्व संघाच्या इतिहासातील देवरस पर्व. He has also written well-researched books titled “The Indian Church?” (2001), “Jesus, Christianity and Swami Vivekananda” (2013), “Liberation Theology” (2014), and “Indian Muslims and National Perspective” (2006) and Christian Missionary activities in India. On account of International Human Rights Day followed by the birth anniversary of RSS's third Sarsanghachalak Madhukar Dattatraya Deoras Ji also known as Balasaheb Deoras Ji, Virag Pachpore in an interview with Newsbharati has thrown light on Deoras ji's significant work in raising voice for social equality along with the upliftment of untouchables and for the rights of the needy in the society.

Firstly, Virag Ji has explained how Balasaheb Ji became a part of RSS and how he became the Sarsanghchalak of RSS. He said that he was the person who tried to make RSS reach each and every corner of the country. He also said that he was one who raised the voice against social inequality. Since Balasaheb ji's childhood, he did not believe in social inequality and untouchability.
One instance, Virag ji, said when Balasaheb was young, he told his mother, “My friends from RSS will come for having a meal at our home. But I want them to be treated like me whatever their caste is. They should be served food in the same utensils which are used for other members of the family. I do not want any kind of discrimination on the basis of caste.” His mother agreed and from then onwards no questions were asked in the Deoras family about caste of swayamsevaks who visited and had food at their home. It was an uncommon practice in the country during that era when caste-based discrimination was rampant.
Further, Virag Ji also explained how Balasaheb Ji encouraged the entry of Muslims in the RSS. He also said that Balasaheb Ji was the one who opposed the idea of the Minority Rights Commission when former PM Morarji Desai suggested during his tenure. This comes as Balasaheb ji did not believe in minority and majority. He told them to name the commission as Human Rights Commission but no one listened to it.
Later, Virag ji also explained about the extensive work done to strengthen the North-East region which was highly ignored in which Virag Ji was also involved. Due to all these contributions of Balasaheb Ji for the welfare of society and fighting for human rights, he had pioneered and inspired lakhs of people.
