Mumbai, July 16: Mumbai police have registered a rape case against the son of late lyricist Gulshan Kumar and the managing director of T-Series Company, Bhushan Kumar.
DN Nagar Police hasregistered the complaint on the basis of a complaint lodged by a 30-year-old model and aspiring actor. According to the police Bhushan has been accused of raping a 30-year-old woman and it has been claimed that he took advantage of her on the pretext of giving her work in his company's project.
A police officer said the complainant, an Andheri resident, told them that she knew Kumar since August 2017, and the film producer sexually exploited her between 2017 and 2020. Police have been booked Kumar under IPC sections 376 (rape), 420 (cheating), 506 (criminal intimidation). The police made no arrests yet, however, an investigation is in progress.
This is not the first case against Kumar. Earlier, an unknown woman had accused him of seeking sexual favors.
Following this, Bhushan Kumar's team issued a statement, "The complaint filed against Mr. Bhushan Kumar is completely false and malicious and the contents of the same are denied. It has been falsely alleged that the lady in question was sexually exploited between 2017 to 2020 on the pretext of giving her work. It is a matter of record that she has already worked for a T-Series banner in Film and music videos. Around March 2021 she approached Mr. Bhushan Kumar seeking help to fund one of the web series which she wanted to produce, which was politely refused."
He further added, " Thereafter, In June 2021 after the lifting of lockdown in Maharashtra, she started approaching the T-Series banner in collusion with her accomplice demanding a huge sum of money as an extortion amount. Consequently, a complaint was filed by T-Series banner against the attempted extortion with police at Amboli police station on 1st July 2021. We also have evidence in the form of audio recording for the extortion attempt and the same shall be provided to investigating agency. The present complaint filed by her is nothing but a counterblast to the complaint filed against her and her accomplice for the offense of extortion. We are in the process of consulting our lawyers in this regard and will take appropriate legal action."
