RSS Sarsanghchalak Dr. Mohanrao Bhagwat releasing the book written by former RSS Pracharak to Arunachal Pradesh Sunil Kitkaru at Vidarbha Sahitya Sangh auditorium on Monday. VSS President Manohar Mhaisalkar and author Sunil Kitkaru look on.

Nagpur, Aug 10: Social transformation is possible with participation of awakened people. Each person in the society must have self-esteem, high moral values, integrity, patriotism and self discipline to fulfill their role in nation building. The RSS has been engaged in this mission of creating an awakened society since its inception in 1925, said RSS Sarsanghchalak Dr. Mohanrao Bhagwat here on Monday.

Dr. Bhagwat was delivering the concludng address of the lecture series organized by Vidarbha Sahitya Sangh (VSS) a regional level literary organization on Monday. THe VSS too is celebrating its centenary year.

Any one leader or organization cannot transform the nation and the society. Therefore, do not give a wholesale contract to reform the country even to the RSS, Bhagwat said adding that it needs a collective force of such awakened and alert people who can face any challenges and successfully overcome them.

This very idea of collective efforts is ingrained in the ideology of RSS, he explained. Citing the massive public participation in the freedom struggle that liberated our motherland from the British yoke, Bhagwat said that people on their own must assume the responsibilities to reform the country and not rely on the RSS or any leader or any one organization.

He said that one leader, one organization, one party cannot bring the reforms they can help accelerate the process of transformation. But real change is possible only when the common man stands for it. Though the Indian independence struggle began in 1857, it fructified only in 1947 when masses were awakened about the necessity of freedom and their participation in it.

As an organization the RSS is always open to and firm believer in self introspection and review of its work from time to time. This practice has helped and enabled the Snagh to face challenges of varied natures some of which had even threatened its very existence, he said.

Accepting new ideas, accommodating the principles of other faiths, and transforming the principles on national needs have helped the RSS achieve its goals, he added.

However, the society took its own time to understand the nature of the Sangh work, Dr. Bhagwat said and added that once they realized this there is no stopping the expansion of RSS touching all spheres of national and social life of India. But this journey of RSS was not so easy. Many people have sacrificed their lives to take it to the present state. The commitment and dedication of swayamsevaks in reaching out to the people, convincing them to join the Sangh and ensure their active participation in its activities have brought the desired reforms and changes in the society today.

He said that the RSS wants that every Hindu should become efficient and capable to play his or her role in the process of national reconstruction because cahnges happen through the collective efforts of the people and the RSS is organizing the society to fulfill this dream.

Earlier, the RSS Sarsanghchalak released a book in Marathi written by Sunil Kitkaru, former RSS Pracharak who worked in Arunachal Pradesh in the 1990s. Kitkaru had penned a number of articles on situation in the Northeast region of India in the Marathi daily "Tarun Bharat". These articles are compiled in a book titled "VArta Ishanya Bharatichi" in Marathi.

Releasing the book Bhagwat described it as "live experience of the north eastern states and their survival", congratulating Kitkaru for writing such a wonderful book.
